Description
Petzl Jane I Single Rope Lanyard
Made from dynamic rope, the Petzl Jane is a fixed length lanyard which can be combined with an Absorbica shock absorbing pack to make an energy absorbing I (single leg) or Y (twin leg) lanyard*. Featuring sewn ends protected by plastic sheath to hold the connector in place and protect the terminations from abrasion, it is available in a range of lengths.
Key Features
- Non-adjustable dynamic rope lanyard that can be combined with an ABSORBICA energy absorber to make a single energy-absorbing lanyard with a maximum length of two meters
- Easy handling, thanks to the plastic sheath that holds the carabiner in position and facilitates clipping while protecting the termination from abrasion
- Offers several configurations for setting up a temporary anchor: directly to an anchor point or around a suitable structure
- Individual identification marking on plastic sheath, to track equipment throughout its lifespan
- Available in several lengths: 60, 100 and 150 cm
Specifications
Certification(s): CE EN 354, EN 795 type B, EAC, ANSI Z359.3; CSA Z259.11
Material(s): polyester
Some recommendations on options for installation / connecting to the harness include: Maillon Rapide, Petzl Swivel Open, Semi circular Maillon Rapide or Petzl Ring Open.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These are Non Energy Absorbing Lanyards - They are NOT designed to absorb energy. On their own they must NOT be used to arrest a fall. Tape or rope lanyards to EN354 must be used in conjunction with an energy absorber (e.g. EN355) for fall arrest. It is critical (and mandatory by law) that the combined length of lanyard, absorber and connectors does NOT exceed 2m in length.

What is the diameter of the rope in a Jane lanyard?
11.5mm
How do I connect (retrofit) a scaffold hook to a Jane lanyard?
You can use an 8mm Maillon Rapide (PPEDZ08 / P15) screwed on to 3.0 N.m of torque or alternatively buy a Petzl MGO Open Scaffold Hook which has a gate on the eyelet that can be opened using a Hex / Allen key to enable it to be fitted to a sewn eye.

Associated Products
Petzl Absorbica
The Absorbica is a compact energy absorber, for use in combination with a JANE lanyard to make a fall arrest lanyard. Equipped with tear-webbing inside a pouch that opens on each end, the absorber is protected from abrasion, while allowing for regular inspection. It has two options for installation on the harness, according to the frequency of manipulation.
Petzl Micro Swivel Open
Compact openable swivel designed for attachment to a locking karabiner, to avoid twisting of lanyards and to allow correct positioning of devices. Its design without bearings allows it to turn freely when not loaded and to stop moving when loaded in order to maintain the devices in position.
Petzl MGO Double Action Scaffold Hook With Open Captive Eye
Retro-fittable scaffold hook. This very clever scaffold hook design features a gated connection point allowing it to be retro-fitted to a lanyard. This should prove popular with regular lanyard users who have had to replace the whole lanyard previously (now you can replace the webbing / rope sections but reuse the scaffold MGO hooks!)
The MGO hook is an autolocking double action connector which requires the user to push the plate on the rear of hook with the palm of their hand then pull the front lever inwards to open (double action). Its large opening (6.3cm) makes it perfect for clipping to cables and bars.
Petzl Ring Open
The Ring Open gated ring is designed for the semi-permanent connection of equipment. Its round shape ensures optimal functioning in all directions. It has a wide opening that allows installation of ropes with sewn terminations.
Petzl Eashook Open Karabiner
The Petzl Eashook Open karabiner is designed for use at the ends of a double lanyard or work positioning lanyard. The gated connection point allows for direct attachment of the karabiner to the lanyards. If the lanyard is damaged, the connector can thus be reused. The excellent grip and automatic locking system facilitate handling when passing intermediate anchors.
